Choosing to wear makeup during a pandemic is not out of vanity, but for some, sanity. Skincare and makeup have become a form of self-care and routine, putting some makeup on in the morning before that 9am meeting can do wonders for your confidence, and without you even realising it, improve your performance.

Here are 5 glamming top tips for that boss babe feeling!

1) Glowing Skincare

Being Zoom call ready doesn’t have to mean applying makeup. Lockdown is the perfect time to give your skin the well-deserved TLC it needs from the effects of pollution and the environment. Give yourself an AM and PM routine with skincare tailored to your needs. Overtime, your natural skin will have time to heal and glow naturally.

A Vitamin C serum works as a great antioxidant by brightening skin tone and reducing signs of ageing. Try The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%.

2) Bold Eyes

The most underrated tool of the makeup kit. Using Eyelash Curlers before applying Mascara will not only keep the lashes curled for longer but can open up your eyes instantly. Applying eyeliner might just be a step too far if you want to keep your makeup minimal, so pre-curling the lashes can make a big difference, with a few coats of Mascara.

Try the No7 Eyelash Curlers which are great value.

3) Pop of Blush

The webcam and screen light can make skin tones look washed out and the face loses definition. Adding a bright colour to your cheeks can not only add structure but make you look fresh and revived. Go for warm toned blushers to give a natural glow and use the colour left on the brush or your finger if using a cream blush, across your eyelids to bring the look together.

The Trinny London Lip2Cheek is a great multi-tasking product is super easy to blend. Try the colour ‘Pia’.

4) Luminous Base

Due to wearing less makeup than usual, putting on a heavy foundation can feel a bit weird, and with skin now having time to breath, less is more! Go for a satin finish concealer and use it only where you need coverage, such as under the eyes, mouth lines and spots.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer is long-wearing and does not crease like most concealers, it instantly smooths the skin and has a creamy finish.

5) Lucious Lips

Use gloss or satin lipsticks to keep your lips looking fuller and defined, as matte colours will look dull on screen. If you want to keep your lip colour going through the constant cups of tea, I recommend using a lip balm with a tint and it keeps your lips moisturised and colourful.

Try the NARS Cosmetics Orgasm Afterglow Lip Balm for a pinky peach tint that’s a universally flattering shade.
